Scanning in Photos for Page1Printers

Things you'll need for this tutorial:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Scanner that is connected to your computer
  • A photo that you want to scan

Step 1: Open Photoshop

Step 2: Click file, go down to Import, and select the scanner.

Photoshop menu: File > Import > Select your scanner

If your scanner does not show up in the list, please check to make sure it is connected to your computer and that the proper driver software has been installed.

Step 3: Scan Settings

  • Resolution 300dpi
  • 100 % (Same Size or Smaller)
  • Original Color Mode

Helpful tip: Previewing your photos before scanning to make sure nothing is overlapping is a good idea.

Step 4: Crop & Straighten

After Images have been scanned and appear in Photoshop, click File, scroll down to Automate, and click "Crop and Straighten Photos"

Photoshop menu: File > Automate > Crop and Straighten Photos

Step 5: Color Adjustments

Once images are cropped and straightened the next step is to adjust the photo's color, contrast, sharpness, and perform other post-production enhancements. For more information on how to do this, follow our easy step by step guides for Image Manipulation.
